FAQs about Paperless Billing

Effective July 1, 2023, UMMC will begin sending electronic billing statements to all active MyChart users. Instead of receiving a paper statement in the mail, MyChart users will receive an email and/or text notification that their bill is ready to view in the MyChart Portal.

The format and structure of your billing statement will not change. Below are some questions you may have regarding this change. If you have additional questions, please contact UMMC Customer Service:

  • Local: (601) 496-9303
  • Toll free: (844) 838-4871

I received a message that said I am no longer getting billing statements in the mail. When does this go into effect?

This change begins July 1, 2023. If you have a MyChart account, you will receive billing statements electronically via MyChart. You will no longer receive paper billing statements via USPS. This applies to patients and those responsible for paying medical bills for a patient under age 18 who is signed up for MyChart.

I have both hospital and physician bills. Are all bills going to be paperless?

Yes, both hospital and physician bills will be electronic for all UMMC MyChart users. Paperless billing is only available to MyChart users.

My child and/or parents have an active MyChart account, but I am responsible for the bill. How will I get these statements?

If you do not already have proxy access, you will need to contact UMMC Customer Service at (601) 496-9303 or toll free at  (844) 838-4871. A Customer Service agent will give you access to view billing statements via MyChart.

How will I know when I have a bill?

You will receive a notification via text message or email letting you know you have a new statement available. Please ensure your notifications are turned on for MyChart. You will need to login to your MyChart account to see the details of your new statement.

How do I view my paperless billing statement via MyChart?

See instructions here on how to view billing statements in MyChart.

What happens if I miss a bill? Will you contact me?

You will receive a paper statement if you are 90 days past due with no payment arrangement set up by UMMC or UMMC’s payment plan vendor, AccessOne. Your final billing statement will be a paper statement delivered to your address via USPS.

Can I choose to get statements in the mail?

Yes, you can cancel paperless statements via MyChart after July 1, 2023. For complete instructions, please see opt-out instructions here or contact UMMC Customer Service at (601) 496-9303 or toll free at (844) 838-4871.

Can I still pay my bill in person?
